Collagraphs

Collagraphs are produced by sticking a variety of materials onto thick card. Textured paper, string, tissue paper and grit can be used. The finished ‘plate’ is then inked up with printing ink, which is pushed into the surface with a dabber and scrim. Areas which need highlighting can be burnished with tissue paper. It is then printed onto slightly damp paper using an etching press. The process is repeated for each new print, maybe with different colours. Each print is a unique original piece of work.
